So we have put together a rough edit of our zombie film opening. So far, it is too long and doesn't have a title board or a production logo. We will attend to these matters when we do our second draft.
At the moment, the film is 2.55 minutes long, but the examining board says that it has to be 2 minutes. However, in my opinion, there are definitly things that we can speed up, cut down or completely cut out. The biggest shame is that we will have to cut the music down to 2 minutes as it is 2.15.
My favourite bit is by far the last shot. I think the use of the tights stuffed and painted creates the perfect tongue-in-cheek budget zombie movie feel that we are aiming for.
We still need to add in the narration, however we needed the rough edit first in order to know exactly what should be said. Over the past few weeks, we have been listening to various people as they talk and assessing how well they would fit the part. In my opinion, the person with the most suitable voice so far is our media studies teacher, Mr Wroe. However, there will be a future blog post with a formal assesment of different peoples voices so that we can choose the best.
There is a generic narrative for every zombie films and I have depicted it below.
We have tried to put our own twist on it and develop the characters. I have depicted our narrative below:
{our narrative}
As you can see, there is still a fair amount for us to do, but at least now we know the order of the shots and can get on with cutting it down.
